Guidelines & Fees

The weekend aquatics program is designed to provide advancement and fun aquatic opportunities difficult for most units to provide for themselves. However, these are not merit badge classes they are activity sessions (including instruction and free time) in and around Alamitos Bay Marina, assisted by a qualified Dockmaster.

 

Programs offered:

                                                                        

Canoeing:   Basic instruction in canoeing. Free time to practice skills.
     
Rowing:   Basic instruciton in rowing. Free time to practice skills.
     
Kayaking:   Basic instruction in kayaking. Free time to practice skills.
(additional charges apply)
     
Small Boat Sailing:   Basic instruction in small boat sailing using sabots. Free time to practice skills.
     
Motor Boating:   Basic instruction in motor boating. Free time to practice skills.
     
Fishing:   Basic instuction in fishing. Free time to practice skills.
(Fishing license required and must be in possession - 16yrs & older)
     
Island excursions   Trips around Napes Island & Alamitos bay dependant on groups skills.
(includes support/chase boat)
     
Camping:   Beach camping or camping inside the sea base.
(Nightly fire watches required!)
     
BBQ:   3 Charcoal grills and 1 large propane grill available.
     
Fire Ring:   Patio fire ring with ocean front view available.

 


Program offered any weekend on a first come first served basis. Reservations required and can be made through the Scout Service Center (562) 427-0911.

The Long beach Sea Base is one of the premier waterfront Scouting facilities in the courntry. It is located off of Appian Way in Beautiful Belmont Shore, und the second street bridge. All activities are conducted within the confines of the Sea Base and Alamitos Bay Marina. Any group wishing to go outside of th emarina must make separate arrangements well in advance with the Dockmaster staff.
